Taqa moves into wind farms

Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (Taqa) has teamed up with French-based wind power specialist Theolia to tender to build and develop a 300-megawatt wind farm in northern Morocco.

The 50-50 partnership will also look at upgrading existing wind projects in Morocco, including the Abdelkhalek Torres wind farm. The Abdelkhalek project could potentially involve the overhaul of 84 existing turbines and the extension of the project by several hundred megawatts, Taqa said in a statement.

Theolia already operates a 50.4-megawatt farm in Morocco, while Taqa holds power-generation assets there.
